Painting Oak Stairs White

I have searched high and low on Google, Pinterest, etc. for how to paint those 90's oak stairs. Here's how I updated my oak stairs railing and baseboards throughout the whole house:

 

 Here is the before of my Oak Stairs - nice wood just outdated.

 

 

First you want to prime all the wood. No need to degrease but maybe wash down the railing and baseboards with a damp paper towel to remove dust. I got my primer at Menards.

 

 

Then add two coats of White Paint and Primer in one. I used Pittsburgh Ultra Interior Paint and Primer in One - Semi-Gloss Enamel (which I also got at Menards). I found the paint and primer in one adds more thickness to cover those unwanted wood grains. The semi-gloss left a tiny shine but nothing over powering.

 

Make sure you use a paint sprayer, do not brush it on. I bought a $20 paint sprayer at Harbor Freight and was able to borrow my uncle's compressor. Super easy to do! (I was a first-timer.) Just make sure you read the instruction on the paint sprayer to make sure you have the right pressure on the compressor. Also, wear a mask and eye protection. This stuff definitely gets in the air.

Here are the White Stairs! I'm super happy with the end result. Up close you can see the wood grain but not from far away. 

 

 Here are the White Baseboards! Again, up close you can see the grain but from further back it looks white.
